Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip Recipe: a crowd pleaser!

Made this recipe this weekend for my niece’s Confirmation Party and it was a hit!  If you love sweets, you will love it too.  Even though it is called cookie dough, it reminded me more of a thick frosting…of deliciousness.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip
adapted from Jewel Bakes
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, slightly packed
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 8 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
The Nitty Gritty:
  1. Medium saucepan melt the butter and brown sugar together.  Whisk together over medium-high heat until sugar is completely dissolved, about 4 minutes.  Remove from heat and add the vanilla.  Set aside pan and let completely cool.
  2. While you are waiting for the pan to cool, cream together the cream cheese and confectioners sugar for a couple minutes.  Slowly pour in the cooled butter/sugar mixture.  Beat on medium-high until mixture is completely combined but not separated.  Stir in chocolate chips at the very end.
  3. Serve with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, teddy grahams, animal crackers and/or whatever your heart desires!

Hey Piano Woman, Play Me a Song!

Don’t Read This Book!

Got your attention, didn’t I?  There really isn’t one particular book that I want to tell you about today, rather it is about the thousands that have been given the “banned book” label.  Someone, somewhere took it upon themselves to tell others that you (or your child) should not read a particular book because THEY thought it was inappropriate, etc.  In my opinion, I believe I am a better judge of what I would like to read and/or what my daughters should read than some anonymous source.

This week is the American Library Association’s Banned Book Week.  On their website, they state that “Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment.”  So do yourself a favor, pick up one of the numerous banned books this week and truly let freedom ring.

Here are just a few of the books that have been banned over the years:

By the way, all of these books were banned in the last ten years.  This still happens.  Today.
What are you waiting for?  Go READ!
