In our family, we spend every Thanksgiving with J’s family and every Easter with mine. While we miss the other side when we are not with them, I do like the consistency this schedule gives my girls. J’s parents were actually up for a short visit this year so they were able to give the girls their Easter goodies before they left on Saturday morning. This was a nice bonus to the holiday.
With both of my girls, I was able to breastfeed them for the first full year of their lives. I was happy to do this and was thankful I was able to (and didn’t have the added expense of formula, etc). With Miss M, I never breastfed her in public. She was an October baby so we spent the greater part of that winter indoors anyway. If we were out, I would feed her in the car or just wait until we reached our destination. I would always go into another room if we were not at home. As a new mom, I was most comfortable nursing her this way and it worked fine.
When C arrived, I did not have the same luxury of staying indoors as I did with M. Now I had a 4 1/2 year old and it was summertime. My sister-in-law had bought me a nursing cover and I used that anytime we were at the park, etc. and C was hungry. I don’t remember there even being nursing covers when M was a baby. The cover was okay. C would get hot under it and sometimes bat at it instead of concentrating on eating. I was glad I had it but wasn’t completely satisfied using it.
When I was given the opportunity to review BabyBond, I jumped at the chance. It is a nursing cover, but one that doesn’t cover the baby! What a great idea! Even though my nursing days are very much behind me, I still wanted to see how the BabyBond would work. I even had a worthwhile accomplice to help me in my review, my niece Caley. She just became a new mom to a ten pound baby girl, “J”, a little over a month ago!
Here is her review of the Flex cover:
After a full week off of school for spring break, Miss M. was back in the trenches today. She woke up kinda groggy and complaining of a headache. I swear the minute the girl wakes up, she runs out of bed. Hence the headache and looking like she just ran into a wall. She told daddy that she was excited to go back to school and I think she enjoys it once she is there, but she told me she didn’t really want to go. I think the reason for her hesitation is because of what we did on Spring Break.
What did we do? Absolutely NOTHING. Miss M was quite content watching her Three’s Company when it was on. We also had some good friends visit us one day for a play date, it was J’s birthday another day, we had a visit from the awesome Aunt Mimi yet another day and for the life of me I can’t remember what we did the last two days of the week. All I know is that it was cold and definitely not feeling like spring. Also, we had another thing going on…
2 year molars. Beginning on Friday, C started to drool like the River Nile. I have never seen so much spit come out of one child. She has been having a runny nose since the time she was born. (It honestly seems like it..hence the name of the blog). But it had started to be more clear and hence another indication that fun was about to begin. C has a very different pain tolerance than Miss M. Meaning it is pretty much non existent. So when she awoke from her afternoon nap on Saturday feeling warm we knew that the party was here. The whining, always wants to be held, not wanting to eat party, that is.
We have been giving her tylenol and that has really helped. I found some of her old teething toys today too and she has been chomping on them. The problem with the two year molars is their location. They are kinda far back for her really to be able to chomp on something to soothe them. Any suggestions?
So that is what we have been up to. We did have some 60 degree weather on the weekend but it is Chicago…it could still snow. {shudder}
How was your Spring Break? Please don’t reply if you went on some awesome trip or did anything that could cause feelings of jealousy, anger, etc. (just kidding..)
are the words I said to my husband a couple of nights ago before I went to bed. This week has been a long one. First Miss M had pink eye plus a hacking cough that makes her sound like she smokes a pack a day. Then C has a runny nose that is like a non stop faucet and screams every time you even go for a kleenex to wipe her face. Finally after Miss M’s pink eye was all better, guess who got it next? Yep, the queen. Whippee! I was being so extra careful in washing my hands, even to the point of being OCD and then, when her eyes seemed to be getting better…Wham! It got me. Of course, I have been fighting a cold the entire month of March it seems. So it was a probably a combination of factors. I tried to use M’s eye drops for the evening to see if it would help. My eye was so swollen and red the following morning I worried that I had actually made it worse! I hadn’t, but it motivated me enough to go to the doctor to get my own drops. When I compared the two drops, mine had 10% compared to M’s 3% solution. No wonder it didn’t make any difference.
So there I was applying my eye drops, putting on the Vicks Vapor Rub and not feeling so pretty. Oh well. Hope springs eternal and so our good health will return…soon…I hope?
For your Friday viewing pleasure and to start the weekend on a happy note…the musical stylings of M & C!
So today is a sick day. We are a runny noses, sleepy, generally crabby bunch of girls. Yep, M, C and even I all have colds. I thought I would post the following video to cheer us up and hopefully put a smile on your face. It was taken using Photo Booth last Friday night when the girls were home alone with daddy.
While the cat’s away, the mice will play…
